Canvas UI

Written on by Andre Vitorio

Developer & Designer David Haz has dropped one of the most impressive UI libraries we've ever seen.

Canvas UI is a new open-source library of 24 (and counting) creative components that render live html-in-canvas and WebGL.

Every component wraps your existing DOM content.

It ships for React, Vue, Svelte, and vanilla TypeScript. Framework-agnostic, GPU-accelerated via WebGL, and animated outside the React render cycle. Components pause off-screen, clean up on unmount, and respect prefers-reduced-motion.

The registry speaks the shadcn protocol, so AI agents with the shadcn MCP server can browse, read docs, and install from a single prompt.

If you've ever wanted to drop a VHS filter, particle reveal, or glass refraction onto your existing UI without rebuilding it, this is the toolkit!
